Amchur & Dates Chutney


  • 2 tbsp dry mango powder (amchur)
  • 20 dates, pitted
  • 200 ml water
  • Unrefined salt or black salt, as per taste
  • ½ tsp roasted cumin (jeera) seed powder
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼  tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
  • ⅛ tsp clove powder


Boil dates in 200 ml water, until most of the water evaporates. Add the rest of the ingredients. Mix well and adjust sweetness, or other flavours, as required. Cool completely. You may blend the chutney, if you so wish, before storing it in an airtight container. Refrigerate and use as a relish or chutney.
