ABOUT US HEALTH PROGRAMMES RECIPES RESOURCES

From the desk of Dr Nandita Shah

I am writing from SwaSwara, in Gokarna where we conduct our 21 Day Health Retreat. This program is a disease reversal program. Not every disease can be reversed in 21 days but we do manage to shift many people off 70% or more of their medications by careful monitoring and doing the whole battery of tests at the beginning and end. Even more importantly we help people change their habits so that they can heal while enjoying truly delicious food.

Disease reversal requires a shift in consciousness. We need to move from a culture of disease to a culture of health and life. It takes 21 days to change a habit, and we hope to help many people make health their habit this year

Testimonial of Shammi Sethi

Shammi Sethi an avid cyclist and health enthusiast started his plant based journey only four months ago. Delighted with the changes that he experienced, he now wants to support others and has actually launched an online organic store called Rare Earth in Mumbai and is going to come up with a physical store soon!

It has been four months now that I have been on this journey. I eat only organic food, no processed food and a lot of raw food.I have been a cyclist since childhood and very fitness conscious so I thought I was eating healthy because I was vegetarian. I had a lot of cottage cheese for protein and pulses, beans, vegetables, etc. but still felt lethargic. Something was wrong I had to get better.

Then suddenly one day I was diagnosed with hypertension. I was lucky because it was detected just a day prior to me going for a 150 kms cycle ride. My blood pressure was very high and fluctuating and I didn’t have a choice but to start medication. I wasn’t happy because I don’t like chemicals and the medicine could never heal me. I was told I have to take it for life, and not one but 3 bp meds including 1 beta blocker and  a statin (please check online for the side effects of these medicines).

A year prior to this I met my dietician who asked me to take some tests before suggesting a diet. My cholesterol  was high plus vitamin D was less. I followed it for a while then gave up because I was busy with work. I was stupid and that lead to my hypertension. If I would have followed the diet I would have been okay.

Luckily for me I was guided to Bhavna Kapoor, a nutrionist with SHARAN and after following their diet, I am having only one tablet instead 4! After this one tablet too, my bp is in control and in fact the doctor said he would see for another few months and then remove this tablet too!

I am happy that I was dedicated though I got my tiffin from Shishir Khandelwal and for dinner supervised my food and now have learnt to cook even! Whenever I go for dinner to anyone’s house I carry my own food. I don’t use the microwave oven, no non stick cookware only steel or iron and only eat organic food. My energy levels have definitely gone up. I’m feeling great.

I felt that it was a struggle procuring good organic food. I had to order online or call different suppliers which was painful, so I thought of putting all products under a single roof – Rare Earth – the organic store! I truly wish and hope to see a healthy India.

Mindful Eating by Radhika Chopra

I was walking by the market and saw the popular KFC store. People thronging for fast food is such a common sight. It is quick, easy and suspiciously addictive and strangely not satiating. Yet we mindlessly indulge in such food

What came to mind – “Do we ever notice the journey of the food we ate?” Our food is the one way we connect to our body, at least as it was meant to be. We neither are aware of the texture, taste, color and flavor of our food nor do we have an intimate relationship with what we put into our bodie

What comes onto your plate carries impressions of its coming into existence, the nurturing it received, the environment it has been exposed to..

Some of the food will have loving hands, sunshine, raindrops, wind and nurturing platform of growth and other foods may have pain, fear, dread, suffering and hostile environment

Every experience we have shapes our energetic make up. The same goes for our food !

If we pause for a moment and ask, “What had this food received, what has been it’s experience? What imprints does it have?,” then we may choose with more awareness.

If violence has no place in our heart, then it has no place on our plates .
