Hypertension, Heart Disease and Stroke can be Prevented – A World Hypertension Day Special

Online
Start date: Thursday 14th May 2026 7:00 pm IST End date: Thursday 14th May 2026 8:00 pm IST

Did you know that heart attacks are the leading cause of death in India?
They account for nearly 45% of deaths in the 40–60 age group—and alarmingly, rates among younger adults are rising.

Cardiovascular diseases are responsible for almost 1 in 3 deaths in India, and India alone contributes to nearly one-fifth of global heart disease deaths.

Even more concerning—Indians tend to develop heart disease almost a decade earlier than people in many Western countries.

In 2023, during Navratri in Gujarat, 10 people died of heart attacks in a single night. These are not just statistics—they’re a wake-up call.

The good news?
Heart disease is largely preventable. In many cases, even blocked arteries can be reversed with the right lifestyle changes.

If you’d like to learn how to protect yourself from hypertension, heart disease, and stroke through a whole food plant-based diet—and understand the science behind it—join me, Dr. Nandita Shah, for a one-hour talk followed by a Q&A.
