Green Custard Bowl
This recipe was shared by SHARAN Associate Anubha Kothari from Bangalore, in our Mother’s Day Recipe a Day on your WhatsApp initiative. We had a mother share with us how much her 3 year old loves this bowl! This recipe is an easy way to sneak in raw leafy greens into the diet of children. Ripe pulpy fruits with their sweetness and vitamins balance the taste and minerals of the greens.
Ingredients :
- 1 cup amaranth or spinach greens
- 3 small ripe elaichi banana or 1 big banana
Method:
Wash all ingredients and refrigerate them for two hours. Peel and chop the fruits and add all ingredients in a grinder or blender. Do not add any water.
Blend them well. Not adding water gives this a custard like consistency. No need to add any sugar or jaggery as the ripe fruits will sweeten the dish.
Pour the custard in a bowl. Plop some chopped fruits and serve this immunity boosting dish right away. Can be refrigerated for half a day if needed.

Chlorophyll Counts
We need to ‘go green’ with our food too! And that’s when chlorophyll comes into the picture. Called the ‘green blood’ of plants, chlorophyll is the natural plant pigment, whose structure is similar to our hemoglobin, making it super good for our health! Eating foods rich in chlorophyll enhances energy, detoxifies the liver, eliminates body odor, cleans the digestive tract and aids in prevention of cancer.
And if you want to lose some weight, then adding these foods also help to control hunger and cravings!
7 foods rich in chlorophyll
1. Wheat-grass or Barley grass
|
2. Leafy greens like spinach, mint, drumstick leaves…
|
3. Green vegetables and fruits like peas, broccolli, grapes…
|
4. Sprouts
|
5. Fresh Herbs like parsley, cilantro, basil…
|
6. Hemp seeds
7. Sea-weeds like nori
