From the desk of Dr. Nandita Shah...
|
One of the most loved parts of our 21-day Health Retreat is our evening documentary session.
Every morning, we explore the science behind health, disease reversal, and the power of a whole food, plant-based lifestyle. In the evenings, we reinforce those lessons through carefully chosen documentaries. Seeing real people, real stories, and real science come together helps participants absorb the information at a much deeper level.
After all, what we teach is very different from the mainstream. Unless people truly understand why this lifestyle works—and how to make it part of their lives—there is always the risk of slipping back into old habits. Knowledge is empowering, but understanding creates lasting change.
Over the years, we’ve curated what I believe are some of the finest health documentaries ever made. Most are international rather than Indian. To me, that has never mattered. Science doesn’t change with geography. A well-made documentary that presents solid evidence in an engaging way remains valuable regardless of where it was produced or when it was made.
At our recent retreat, however, one participant asked, “Why are you showing documentaries that are five or ten years old? And why aren’t there more Indian documentaries?”
It made me think.
I’ve always loved old movies, so age has never been a concern for me. What matters is whether the information is still accurate, whether the storytelling is compelling, and whether the science is presented in a way that inspires people to act. Not every aspect of our work has been covered by Indian filmmakers, and we have only about an hour each evening—sometimes we’ve even had to edit documentaries to fit into our schedule.
So imagine my delight when I attended the premiere of Test Subject V.
Here was an Indian documentary that is award-winning, scientifically grounded, highly engaging, emotionally moving, and easily accessible on JioHotstar. It ticks every box.
If you care about your health—or the health of someone you love—please don’t miss it.
If you’re living outside India and don’t yet have access to it, be patient. I’m hopeful it will soon become available internationally. And if it doesn’t, we’ll certainly be showing it at our next 21-day Health Retreat!

Ten Reasons You Should Watch Test Subject V
Some films entertain us. Others educate us. Every once in a while, a film has the power to change lives. We believe Test Subject V is one of those rare films because:
1.
It explains why a plant-based lifestyle matters—in a way that is easy to understand and impossible to ignore.
2.
It may be the motivation you’ve been waiting for. If you’ve been wanting to lose weight, reverse a health condition, or simply feel better, this film could be the catalyst.
3.
The science is solid. Two outstanding physicians explain, with clarity and evidence, why these lifestyle changes are so important.
4.
It’s an Indian story with global relevance. The documentary shows that these principles are just as applicable in India as anywhere else in the world.
5.
Several well-known film personalities support the message, adding their voices to a cause they genuinely believe in.
6.
It’s inspiring without being preachy. The film follows a real journey, making change feel achievable rather than overwhelming.
7.
It reminds us that lasting transformation begins with purpose. When your “why” is strong enough, even difficult changes become possible.
8.
It’s entertaining as well as educational. You’ll learn, laugh, reflect, and probably see your own life in parts of the story.
9.
You’ll gain practical insights that you can begin applying immediately, whether your goal is better health, greater fitness, or disease prevention.
10.
You’ll have the opportunity to meet the protagonist himself. We’ll soon be hosting an exclusive Zoom session with Kunal Avanti, where you’ll be able to ask your questions directly and hear more about his remarkable journey.
