weightloss Day 13: Setting Goals & Visualisation




So now that we have the knowledge of all that we need to eat and all that we need to avoid, let’s strategize and start setting some goals!







Just writing down your goals is not enough, we need to start visualizing them too! Listen to Tehseen, who used both goal-setting and the power of visualization to gain her health back.








Trust that you wrote down your goals. Now that it’s clear what we want, write down also, WHY you would like to achieve this. Any change we want involves changing habits, and we should consider whether or not it will be worth the effort.

Please write down all the reasons, why you would like to be healthy and perhaps lose weight. The more precise your reasons are the easier it is going to be to achieve this goal. Remember, clarity is the key.

Your reason could be like one of these or anything else

  1. I want to live to see my grandchildren
  2. I don’t want to be dependent on anyone
  3. I want to travel and see the world
  4. I want to climb Mansarovar
  5. I want to look to the age of 90 without any health issues
  6. I want to be available to support my daughter who is going through a divorce
  7. I want to be well so that my son does not have to pay for my hospitalization when he is already struggling.
  8. I don’t want to end up in an old peoples home
  9. I want to be able to drive my car myself
  10. I should be able to look after myself
  11. My father suffered terribly due to diabetes and eventually died from it.

Now that you have done this, revise it and check that it’s true for you. If not, please modify it. Read and reflect on this so that you are as sure that it’s true for you. If not, rewrite it.

Now make it as concise as possible, so that it fits into one or maximum two sentences. Once you are completely sure that you have written something that touches you emotionally, please write this down on a little card that is the size of a business card, and that can remain in your wallet or purse and be available to you at all times.

Consider this card very precious. Whenever you are overcome with temptation to live and eat in a way similar to what you did before, please take out this paper, and read it, and reflect whether these outcomes are still important to you. If they are you may be inspired to get back on track, and avoid the temptation.

Now, close your eyes and imagine that you have already achieved your goal. Imagine this in as much detail as possible. Savour every minute of this beautiful feeling.
Practice this visualization every day for one or two minutes to magnetize yourself towards your health goals—it is a very powerful tool!
