Kommal Shah is a Health Coach with SHARAN and a Certified Holistic Nutritionist. She studied nutrition at American Fitness Professionals Association (AFPA). She also holds a Child Nutrition Diploma from Centre of Excellence (CoE).
She has a keen interest in conscious parenting, yoga and spiritual sciences. Earlier, she was a freelance graphic designer and an architectural animator for 15 years.
As luck would have it, she and Dr Nandita Shah occupied the same table at The Ahimsa Fest in Mumbai. Kommal realised she was sitting next to a renowned person from the world of holistic health when several people walked up to Dr Nandita and asked queries on nutrition and health. Reaching back home, she immediately looked up Dr Nandita online, ended up on SHARAN’s website, poured over its contents and hardly slept that night. Her epiphany came from a mix of sadness and guilt about how insensitive she had been all her life, particularly to the cows and the environment, even if it was unintentional.
She went on the whole plant-based diet the very next morning and hasn’t looked back ever since. Her natural aversion to allopathic medicines aligned totally with the concept of a healthy diet which made medicines redundant. Now she is 12 kgs lighter (having shed 8 kg in the first year), has almost reversed her hypothyroidism and lives a life full of energy.
She now enjoys cooking whole plant-based delicacies for herself and her family. And she happily partakes of her enthusiasm and knowledge with one and all by conducting cooking classes, health talks and facilitating programs like the Six Weeks to Health Gain and Weight Loss, Get Millet Savvy and Cancer Wellbeing.
