From the desk of Dr Nandita Shah

Our amazing body is always working to heal itself. Every symptom is our body speaking to us, telling us that something needs to change. Pain is just a cry from the body. Taking medicines instead of understanding the change that needs to be made, is synonymous with saying 'shut up'. But the body does not do this. It is committed to life. If one cry is muffled it finds another way to say it again. We interpret this as yet another disease, and sometimes take yet another medicine.

There is way out. Listen to your body. Understand how nature designed us to eat and live. Follow life's laws. Love your body. The rewards? Your body will love you back! The need for medicines reduce. Excess weight drops off. You will have more energy, endurance, and above all peace of mind!

Srishti Jain, Behavior therapist from Bangalore shares her results from the Six Weeks to Health program

I met Anubha in October for help losing weight for my upcoming engagement in January. Apart from weight loss, I also suffered from chronic insomnia for which I used to rely on an Ayurvedic herb to ensure a good night's sleep. I also had a lot of aches and pains in different parts of my body and I had no idea why. I watched the forks over knives documentary in August and was introduced to SHARAN by a friend in October.

Anubha's caring and loving guidance really helped me keep my motivation levels high up and I started seeing results in 3 days. I didn't need to rely on any herbs to help me sleep and all the aches and pains disappeared. I also started losing weight and in about 6 weeks, I had lost 4kg which was beyond my goal of 3 kgs. Suddenly everyone started asking me how I looked so great and my secret of weight loss. My skin started looking clearer and I was in overall better health. I was in a better mood, more energetic and was able to take decisions faster.

Food for Mind

'Unless we change our food choices, nothing else matters. Because it is meat that is destroying most of our forests. It is meat that pollutes the waters. It is meat that is creating disease which leads to all our money being diverted to hospitals. So it's the first choice for anybody who wants to save the Earth.' – Maneka Gandhi

Sleep heals your Body

The amazing human body works for 24 hours each day! So when you sleep you assume that your body is at rest too, however that is the time the body starts healing itself.

The repair and restoration work begins by 10 pm and takes about seven to eight hours to complete. That is why sleeping late, makes the next day lethargic, as the healing process was paused.

Sleep deprivation is an effect of diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and depression. Thus going on a whole plant based diet and doing physical exercises will not only ensure health but great sleep too.

Get to know 7 ways a good night's sleep helps you…

1. Lose Weight

People who are well-rested, tend to eat 300 calories less on an average!

2. Brightens your Mood

Research shows people who sleep well have fewer symptoms of depression.

3. Protects your Heart

Blood pressure dips as we sleep. This gives the heart a break.

4. Heals you Inside Out

Hormones that produce tissue growth are released in sleep, making one recover from injuries or sore muscles.

5. Provides you with Energy

To function well the next day.

6. Makes tough decisions easy

There is a reason they say – sleep over it!

7. Makes you smarter!

Yes while sleeping your brain sorts all the thousands of things you absorbed during the day. So if you are learning something new, make sure you get some good sleep!
