Dudhi Chana Subji
Ingredients
- 1 cup channa dal
- 300 gms dudhi (lauki) chopped into cubes without peeling
- 4 to 5 pieces kokum
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp dhania,jeera,mustard seed,red chilli
- 1 pinch asafetida
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp jaggery
- fresh coriander chopped for garnishing
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 4 - 5 cloves
Method
Wash and rinse chana dal. Boil dudhi and chana dal separately. Heat pan and roast mustard seed, cinnamon, cloves and asafetida for 5 seconds. Add boiled chana dal and dudhi into the pan. Add turmeric, kokum, dhania jeera, red chilli powder, jaggery and sea salt to taste. Simmer on medium heat for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Garnish with chopped fresh green coriander leaves.
