Dudhi Chana Subji

Ingredients



  • 1 cup channa dal

  • 300 gms dudhi (lauki) chopped into cubes without peeling

  • 4 to 5 pieces kokum

  • ½ tsp turmeric

  • ½ tsp dhania,jeera,mustard seed,red chilli

  • 1 pinch asafetida

  • salt to taste

  • 1 tsp jaggery

  • fresh coriander chopped for garnishing

  • 1 inch cinnamon stick

  • 4 - 5 cloves



    • Method

      Wash and rinse chana dal. Boil dudhi and chana dal separately. Heat pan and roast mustard seed, cinnamon, cloves and asafetida for 5 seconds. Add boiled chana dal and dudhi into the pan. Add turmeric, kokum, dhania jeera, red chilli powder, jaggery and sea salt to taste. Simmer on medium heat for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Garnish with chopped fresh green coriander leaves.
